Naval Signature Measurement

Ensure your strike-first capability

Being able to detect, identify and engage the adversary before they detect you is critical in naval combat. To achieve this, you need to know exactly what you are emitting – and how to manage it.

The performance of today’s sensors is very high and will only develop even further in the future. That’s why you need to know your signature shell. At FMV Naval Test Ranges we can perform signature measurement and analysis for a range of surface ships and submarines.

Measure and analyse your naval platform’s signature

The signature of your naval platform is a critical parameter. Measuring and analysing the signature are crucial for both the verification of a new design or for a mid-life-upgrade program.

With a deep expertise within the area of signature measurement, you can rely on FMV Test and Evaluation (T&E). We’re continually working with a number of different test methodologies to evaluate the signature shell for surface ships and submarines.

Signature shell measurement and analysis

We have the possibility to measure and analyse almost any aspect of the signature shell.

  • Magnetic and electrical signatures
  • Visual, IR, laser and radar signatures
  • Wake, pressure and vibration signatures

Hydro acoustic signature measurement tracks

  • Static scenarios
  • Dynamic scenarios
  • Submerged scenarios for submarines including submarine acoustic signature
  • STANAG 1136, ISO PPAS 17208, other standards on request
