Case: Validation firings of Excalibur artillery shells

The mission: Live firings for assured functionality

As part of continuous quality monitoring of munitions, regular live firings must be performed in order to assure proper functionality – which is what our customer needed to do in order to validate their Excalibur artillery shells.

Due to the long range of Excalibur artillery shells, the customer needed an extra-large firing range suitable for live firing. They needed a partner to host the firings as well as provide the range instrumentation required for their validation project.

The result: Excalibur quality proved and documented

The successful verification of the Excalibur shells meant the customer could be sure their artillery and weapon systems fulfilled all the necessary requirements. Since the firings were performed by an operational battalion, the customer could also train and verify the performance of their fire support chain. A comprehensive report was also provided that would help the customer improve their fire support chain in the future.
